Nyesom Wike. Federal Capital Territory Minister has delivered a final warning to the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, threatening immediate termination over failure to clear accumulated refuse dumps.
The minister issued the ultimatum Friday following an inspection tour of infrastructure projects in FCT satellite towns, including Karshi, Bwari, and Kubwa. The visit was designed to evaluate progress on President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda initiatives in the capital.
The inspection took a tense turn when Wike encountered a large refuse pile along the Orozo-Karshi road. Visibly displeased, the minister adopted a firm position on accountability, declaring his readiness to take decisive action.
“If I continue to see negligence or refusal to meet performance standards by Monday, I will not hesitate to terminate appointments,” Wike stated, emphasizing that infrastructure development must advance alongside environmental sanitation.
He stressed that officials responsible for waste management failures in Karshi or Bwari would face consequences by Monday, as the administration refuses to tolerate practices that obstruct development.
On a more positive note, Wike expressed approval of road construction progress, particularly in Karshi. Addressing the decade-long delays plaguing the Apo-Karshi road project, he confirmed that government has intervened decisively to ensure completion.
The contract has been terminated and reassigned to SCC Construction Company due to the road’s strategic importance, with work now underway.
A key feature of the tour was the 17-kilometre Bwari-Kubwa Road, which Wike characterized as vital infrastructure that will reshape economic opportunities for communities connecting these two major centers.
The minister announced specific completion targets to provide immediate relief to residents. The Bwari-Kubwa Road is expected to be finished by May 3, 2026, while landscaping and environmental enhancement work must conclude by year-end.
