The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Femi Nuberu, has stirred a major controversy after admitting on live radio that his capacity to speak is strictly controlled by his political “employers.”
Nuberu appeared on Eagles FM on Monday to address the heated storm surrounding the indefinite suspension of the former Governor and current Senator for Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel. While he insisted that aggrieved members have the right to seek redress, the interview took a dramatic turn when the host, Kunle Balogun, pressed him to move beyond the suspension and give a fair appraisal of Senator Daniel’s performance in the National Assembly over the last two years.
In a stunning admission, the APC mouthpiece ducked the question, making it clear that his brief for the interview did not extend to defending or scoring Senator Daniel’s performance, despite him being a member of the APC.
When pressed by anchor Kunle Balogun to assess Senator Daniel’s performance at the National Assembly, the APC mouthpiece ducked the question, bluntly declaring:
“Do you know that discussing what the leadership has not sent me to discuss could even amount to anti-party? Unless you are willing to pay my salary from this moment?”, Nuberu quipped.
The stunning admission is being widely interpreted as proof that APC officials in Ogun are under a gag order, with their loyalty tied strictly to Governor Dapo Abiodun and his camp.
In a dramatic twist, however, Nuberu suddenly found his voice when a caller accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of neglecting Ijebu communities. Unlike his earlier hesitation on OGD, he sprang to the governor’s defence without batting an eyelid, raising eyebrows about selective loyalty.
The inconsistency drew an on-air rebuke from the host, who questioned why Nuberu could passionately defend the governor but claimed he had “no clearance” to rate Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s performance.
Analysts say the episode further exposes the deep cracks within Ogun APC, where loyalty battles, political vendettas, and control from above are tearing the party apart.
