Zenith Bank Plc has been crowned Africa’s Best Bank and Nigeria’s Best Bank at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, marking the second consecutive year the financial institution has secured both prestigious honours.
The awards, presented in London, recognise Zenith Bank’s outstanding financial performance, commitment to digital innovation, customer-focused services, and significant contribution to economic growth across Africa.
Widely regarded as one of the banking industry’s most respected accolades, the Euromoney Awards for Excellence assess financial institutions based on key indicators such as business strategy, profitability, risk management, digital transformation, and overall impact on stakeholders.
Reacting to the recognition, Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, said the awards reflect the trust and confidence customers and stakeholders continue to place in the bank.
She noted that the achievement highlights the dedication and professionalism of Zenith Bank’s workforce, adding that the recognition will inspire the institution to further expand financial inclusion, provide greater value to customers, and support businesses across Africa.
Dr. Umeoji also expressed appreciation to regulators in all the countries where the bank operates for creating a supportive business environment. She dedicated the awards to Zenith Bank’s founder, Jim Ovia, acknowledging his vision and leadership in establishing the foundation that has driven the bank’s sustained success.
Zenith Bank delivered another impressive financial performance in the 2025 financial year, posting gross earnings of ₦4.19 trillion and profit after tax of ₦1.04 trillion. The bank also improved its asset quality by reducing its non-performing loan ratio from 4.7 percent to 3.8 percent.
The latest recognition further strengthens Zenith Bank’s growing international reputation. Earlier this year, the bank was ranked Nigeria’s number one bank by Tier-1 Capital for the 17th consecutive year in The Banker’s 2026 Top 1000 World Banks ranking.
