A group of Yoruba traditional rulers under the aegis of the Yoruba Obas Forum, on Monday, condoled with the government of Oyo State and indigenes of Ibadan on the demise of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Olalekan Balogun.
Oba Balogun, who ascended the throne on March 11, 2022, died last Thursday aged 81 and was laid to rest the following day at his family compound in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
In a condolence message signed by the National President of the forum, the Molokun of Atijere, Oba Samuel Adeoye, the YOF described the late Olubadan as an exceptional traditional ruler whose reign brought about “sustenance of peace and stability in Ibadanland and within Oyo State Traditional Council in general.”
Describing the late Olubadan as a progressive traditional ruler, the group said the demise of the Oba Balogun was a colossal loss to the ancient Ibadan and the entire Yorubaland.
The forum said, “The late Olubadan’s contributions to the socio-economic and cultural development of the region are immeasurable, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
“The Yoruba Obas Forum prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Olubadan and for the Almighty Allah to grant his family and the entire Ibadanland the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
