Filmmaker Mo Abudu will deliver the keynote address at the fourth Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference, organized by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).
The event, themed “Film and Video Regulation in the Digital Age,” is scheduled for November 14 and 15 in Lagos. According to a statement released on Thursday, this year’s conference will bring together industry stakeholders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to explore the evolving landscape of digital content regulation.
Abudu’s keynote, titled “From Local to Global: Developing Narratives and Contents for Worldwide Appeal,” marks a milestone as the conference’s first keynote address. Renowned for her acclaimed films like The Wedding Party, Chief Daddy, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, and Death and The King’s Horseman, Abudu has gained international acclaim with recognitions such as “Africa’s Most Successful Woman” by Forbes and “Africa’s Queen of Media” by CNN.
In her address, Abudu will discuss strategies for creating narratives that resonate both locally and globally, sharing insights on building content that bridges cultural boundaries.
“We are thrilled to have Mo Abudu as our keynote speaker,” said Dr. Shaibu Husseini, NFVCB’s executive director. “Her dedication to telling African stories and her commitment to excellence make her a perfect fit for this conference.”
The event will also be attended by Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, who will serve as the chief host and officially open the conference.
“The minister’s attendance, a first for the Nigeria Digital Content Conference, underscores the government’s commitment to fostering growth in the creative sector,” Husseini added.
The two-day conference, supported by partners including Google, Netflix, Brickwall Communications, and the Film Distributors Association of Nigeria (FIDAN), will feature panel discussions and breakout sessions addressing digital content regulation challenges and opportunities in Nigeria.
Launched in 2020, the annual conference aims to unite stakeholders across Nigeria’s film and digital content industry to foster discussions on navigating regulatory issues in the digital era.
