Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has said that he would accept his fate if the club decideds to sack him after the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.
He recently revealed that he is prepared to leave the club immediately without any compensation if he is sacked.
Speaking during his press conference after the UEL final loss, Amorim said that the entire club would have to deal with the painful loss despite being the better team on the night.
The ex-Sporting CP coach said that even though he agrees that his team was not perfect on the pitch, they were definitely better than Spurs, and they just couldn’t score.
“If the board and fans decide I’m not the right guy I will leave tomorrow without any compensation. But I will not quit.
We have to deal with this loss. I think it’s clear we were the better team but we could not score.
We didn’t perform perfectly today but we were the better team today. There were days when we were really poor but today was not one of those days,” he said.
Pleading with the supporters to keep having faith in the team, Ruben stated that while he has nothing to show for his work this season, he remains confident that he can turn the club’s fortunes around.
The Portuguese manager maintained that his players did everything to win the Europa League final, and it just wasn’t meant to be.
“I have nothing to show to the fans, so in this moment it is a little bit of faith.
I am really confident on my job. And as you see I will not change nothing in the way I do things.
I am not going to talk about the future, tonight we need to deal with the pain of losing this match.
It was clear we were the better team, then we manage not to score again. The guys try everything to win the game. In the future we can assess,” he added.
Ruben Amorim has two years left on the Manchester United contract he signed when he was appointed in November, therefore he would be due a payoff if he is sacked.
