The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has rubbished the 2027 presidential ambition of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
He recently described Ameachi’s presidential ambition as dead on arrival.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Wike revealed that Nigerians will never give Rotimi a chance to become president in the next election.
According to him, he does not even see Amaechi securing the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and that is a fact that the ex-Minister of Transportation knows as well.
He stated that Rotimi saying he knows Tinubu’s weaknesses is funny because he knew the same flaws when BAT defeated him to win the APC’s presidential ticket in 2023.
“He (Amaechi) knows he won’t get the ticket. I read that he said he knows the weaknesses of the president, so he knows how to defeat him, but he also knew the weaknesses of the president in 2022 when the president defeated him mercilessly in the primary,” he said.
Wike further noted that Amaechi’s record in governance automatically disqualifies him from being taken seriously by Nigerians in 2027.
The former Rivers State Governor concluded by accusing his predecessor of lacking respect for the rule of law throughout his tenure as governor between 2007 and 2015.
“Nigerians know the last person they will give a ticket to because they know it (Amaechi’s bid) is dead on arrival.
He cannot fight corruption, he cannot enthrone good governance because he had no respect for the judiciary and the rule of law when he was Rivers State governor,” he added.
