Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has said that Trent Alexander-Arnold is available to face Liverpool in the UCL tonight. He recently revealed that the English defender was intentionally allowed to sit out the Valencia game.
Speaking in a pre-match news conference, Alonso shared that Real Madrid will have to help Trent perform for the club.
According to him, the former Liverpool player is a brilliant footballer who has enough quality to decide a game on his own.
He stated that Real Madrid needs a decisive talent like Arnold to be the difference he was bought to be.
“He’s fine, he didn’t play the other day [against Valencia] with the context of the game but he’s available. Tomorrow, he could play … We need him.
Trent has great quality. It’s a new stage for him. We have to help him perform. He’s an exceptional player,” he said.
On whether Trent would face a hostile reception on his return to Anfield, Alonso noted that Trent will have to cope with whatever the crowd throws at him.
He concluded by saying that Arnold is experienced enough to control his feelings amid any potential hostility.
“We haven’t talked about that. He has to feel his own feelings, he has to enjoy it in his own way.
I won’t tell him how he needs to feel. His history is a bit different to mine. He was born here …
He deserves to enjoy that moment. It’s nice to be back and for him too,” he added.
