The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced a distinguished lineup of Team Nigeria Ambassadors ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Heading the list are experienced sports administrators such as Saleh Ahmadu, Amos Adamu, Patrick Ekeji, Alhassan Yakmut, and Gbenga Elegbeleye. All are former Director-Generals of the NSC and will play key roles in guiding Nigeria’s preparations and participation at the Games.
The ambassadorial team also includes notable athletes and sports contributors like Olympic medallist Daniel Igali, wrestling champion Blessing Oborodudu, as well as Tajudeen Ogunbade, Khadijat Sulaiman, and Victor Iroele.
Institutional and corporate representation comes from Premium Trust Bank and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Wale Adeniyi.
According to the commission, the selection reflects a strategic mix of administrative expertise, athlete experience, and corporate support as Nigeria ramps up preparations for the global event.
The Games will take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2, 2026, bringing together about 74 Commonwealth nations and territories. The competition will feature a streamlined schedule of 10 sports, including athletics, swimming, boxing, cycling, and gymnastics, with para-sports fully integrated into the programme.
