Emadeb Petroleum Exploration & Production Company Limited (Emadeb E&P) has gotten its first oil from the Ibom Field (PPL 236). This marks yet another milestone in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas industry, and Nigerians have been reacting.
After years of persistent investment, technical rigour and collaborative effort, Emadeb E&P has finally started commercial production from the Ibom Field.
This feat seals Emadeb E&P’s status as a fully integrated energy player and reiterates the crucial role of indigenous operators in advancing Nigeria’s energy security and economic diversification.
It also reaffirms the Federal Government of Nigeria’s vision and aspiration to boost the nation’s crude oil production in the near future.
Situated approximately 30 kilometres offshore, Ibom Field was originally discovered in 1979, and the field boasts a significant in-place volume of 103 million barrels of oil.
Since its purchase in the 2020 Marginal Field Bid Round, Emadeb E&P has invested more than $100 million in a phased field development programme.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) approved the Ibom Field Development Plan (FDP) in November 2024.
According to the CEO, Emadeb E&P, Adebowale Olujimi, the latest development is proof of his company’s dedication to unlocking Nigeria’s hydrocarbon potential via vibrant collaboration and quality investment.
