Senator Gbenga Daniel, former Ogun State governor and current representative of Ogun East, has declared that Nigeria is making steady progress in overcoming its economic difficulties under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at his family’s annual Thanksgiving service at Abraham Tabernacle in Sagamu on Sunday, Daniel commended the president’s reform agenda, highlighting currency flotation, fuel subsidy removal, and enhanced security measures as critical steps positioning the nation for sustainable growth.
“Nigeria can only get better. The worst is behind us,” Daniel stated, expressing confidence in the country’s trajectory. He noted encouraging signs including declining inflation and improved security responses, while acknowledging the challenges citizens continue to face.
The senator called for increased prayers to support national progress, pointing to the gathering of over 200 clergy members at the event as evidence of collective commitment to Nigeria’s advancement. He urged citizens to maintain faith during this transitional period.
Addressing public skepticism toward politicians, Daniel defended leaders who follow the tradition of selfless service exemplified by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the Western Region’s first Premier. “While deceit exists in politics, some of us remain committed to serving without blemish,” he said, referencing his two decades of public service.
Daniel outlined his constituency projects, including distribution of empowerment tools—motorcycles, grinding machines, freezers, and sewing machines—alongside infrastructure development and sponsorship of eye surgeries for over 4,000 residents. He pledged continued support to complement government initiatives improving citizens’ welfare.
