Nigerian gospel music executive and producer, Eezee Tee, has sparked conversation after sharing his candid views on the current state of the gospel music industry, describing it as a space overshadowed by hypocrisy, deception, and hidden struggles.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the music producer expressed disappointment with what he believes is the reality behind the scenes of the gospel music scene. According to him, many people see only the public image of the industry, while the deeper issues remain concealed beneath a culture of religious appearances and pretence.
Eezee Tee argued that the industry has gradually shifted away from genuine spirituality, claiming that it now places greater emphasis on performance, emotional displays, and outward appearances than on authentic spiritual direction.
The music executive further stated that many individuals within the gospel community who publicly criticise secular music are already aware of similar problems existing within their own circle.
Drawing from his years of experience working in both the gospel and secular music industries, Eezee Tee maintained that he has witnessed disturbing realities that are largely unknown to the public. He added that those who choose to challenge wrongdoing or expose misconduct often face hostility, rejection, and isolation.
Sharing his thoughts, he wrote:
“The Gospel Music Industry is darker than what you think. It is clothed in hypocrisy, lies, denials, pretence, and deep religion, so folks rarely see through it. It is more performance-based than spirit-led. Driven more by emotions than spirituality.
“Most of the gospel folks who criticize the secular industry know this for a fact. I have been here for a while and have been privileged to engage with both industries, and trust me, you have no idea the evil that goes on in the Gospel Industry. Once you stand against evil, you’re hated and become a target. May Jesus help us.”
His comments have since generated reactions online, with many social media users debating the state of the gospel music industry and the issues he raised.
