Afrobeats superstar Davido has expressed confidence that no form of political pressure or intimidation will prevent Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, from securing a second term in office during the August 15 governorship election.
Davido, who serves as Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Council, said the people of Osun would reward Governor Adeleke with another four years in office based on his administration’s performance.
The singer made the remarks during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Canvassers for the Osogbo Federal Constituency at the governor’s campaign office in Osogbo. He was represented at the event by the council’s deputy chairman, Kayode Olododo.
Addressing the newly inaugurated canvassers, Davido urged them to focus on engaging residents, particularly young people and undecided voters, by highlighting the achievements of the Adeleke administration rather than responding to political provocations.
He stressed that the campaign should remain peaceful and issue-based, encouraging supporters to convince voters through dialogue instead of confrontation.
According to him, Governor Adeleke’s administration has created greater opportunities for youths and delivered meaningful development projects across different parts of Osun State, making a strong case for re-election.
Davido also charged the campaign volunteers to spread the administration’s message across every community and ensure that voters are fully informed about the government’s accomplishments before election day.
He maintained that despite what he described as political misconduct by opposition elements, Adeleke’s victory at the polls remained certain.
“Let us be courageous, not minding the current political rascality by some bad losers. It will not stop Adeleke’s victory. Our message is clear to the people of Osun State. We need to tell them what Adeleke has achieved in such a short time. Osogbo Federal Constituency has benefited from this administration in infrastructure and other areas.
“The youths are better represented in his government than in the previous administration. You are young and useful, so I urge you not to fight anyone but to win the hearts of undecided voters. We are the engine room of this campaign. We are the force that will carry the Imole message to every doorstep and ensure no vote is left behind,” he said.
The August 15 governorship election is expected to be keenly contested, with political parties intensifying campaigns across the state as they seek to win the support of voters ahead of the poll.
