Amazon confirmed Wednesday it will eliminate 16,000 positions globally, expanding on workforce reductions initially outlined last October when the company announced plans to cut 14,000 jobs.
According to Beth Galetti, senior vice president at Amazon, the layoffs are designed to streamline operations by “reducing layers, increasing ownership, and removing bureaucracy.”
The cuts represent part of a broader organizational restructuring as the tech giant seeks to optimize its corporate structure and operational efficiency.
