A convoy of journalists covering a North East Development Commission (NEDC) project handover was involved in a road accident in Bauchi State on Friday.
The media team, traveling with an NEDC delegation headed by Minister of State for Regional Development Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, was returning from the commissioning of a Government Secondary School (GSS) in Yelwan Duguri when the incident occurred.
The crash happened along Yashi-Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area, shortly after the project handover ceremony to the Bauchi state government.
Several journalists sustained serious injuries in the accident. They received initial treatment at Yelwan Duguri Hospital before being transferred to Bauchi General Hospital for additional care.
Among those affected were reporters from Channels Television, AIT, NTA, Arise, and other media organizations represented in the Correspondents’ Chapel who were assigned to cover the event.
