The All Progressives Congress has tapped Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni to serve as Secretary of its Central Coordination Committee ahead of the party’s 2026 National Convention.
The APC National Working Committee formed the 73-member panel to prepare for the convention, which will determine the party’s leadership and direction. Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, will lead the committee, with Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq serving as Vice Chairman.
Yusuf Ali, Focal Person for Digital and Strategic Communications to Governor Buni, said the appointment reflects Buni’s critical role in maintaining party stability and driving internal reforms.
Buni currently heads the APC Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation Committee, which has worked to unite party members across the country. He also chairs the committee reviewing the party’s constitution and expanding its National Executive Committee—both central to ongoing reform efforts.
Known as a skilled party organizer and mediator, Buni has previously overseen major APC national committees. His experience in reconciliation and institution-building has made him one of the party’s most trusted administrators.
The committee’s formation signals the official start of planning for the 2026 convention, which will shape APC leadership ahead of upcoming elections. Buni’s selection for this key role confirms his standing among the party’s top decision-makers.
