Bolaji Ogunmola ,Nollywood actress has categorically denied speculation about a romantic involvement with fellow actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, clarifying that their chemistry in her latest film remains purely professional.
Ogunmola’s new YouTube movie The Bloom After, which premiered on February 6, features her as Inara—a woman navigating life after her husband of 20 years leaves her for another woman. The film follows her journey of self-discovery and re-entering the dating world. Etim-Effiong portrays Nachi, one of her love interests, with their scenes together—including kisses—prompting questions from some viewers about the nature of their relationship off-screen.
One social media user on X raised concerns about the frequency of their on-screen intimacy, writing: “To be honest, you and Daniel kissing movies is too much and it’s looking like you guys are an item. Why didn’t you kiss the 1st guy ‘Anthony’ in your new movie. Remember that was how Yul and Judy started. Feelings can develop. You guys should tune it down.”
Ogunmola issued a forceful rebuttal, defending the artistic integrity of her work while addressing the romance allegations directly.
“You are an absolute retard!! You watched to tweet stupidity and it shows. What is the entire film about you nitwit!! you want to reduce my entire work to kissing. You are an absolute fool and all of you thinking like that. What foolish item, We don’t even talk outside of work!” she responded.
The actress stressed that her relationship with Etim-Effiong is strictly professional, stating they maintain no contact beyond work-related matters. She also hinted at stepping back from personal social media use, suggesting she might employ a manager to handle her online presence.
“It’s like I’ll get a social media manager and just stop using these apps. So I can focus on what really matters.. The work!!! All these opinions and comments.. we are human beings as well,” she added.
The Bloom After has accumulated over 1.5 million views since its release. Ogunmola and Etim-Effiong have appeared in several films together over the years.
Etim-Effiong is married to personal branding expert Toyosi Etim-Effiong.
