Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has warned PSG to not expect the Blues to surrender easily like their previous opponents.
He recently revealed while PSG is a quality team, Chelsea is not Real Madrid or Inter Milan.
Speaking during an interview, Colwill said that even though many football fans would expect the French club to win, he and his teammates have other ideas.
According to him, he remembers saying Chelsea had what it takes to win the competition at the beginning of the tournament, and now the team is so close to achieving that dream.
“They are an amazing team – but we are not Inter or Real Madrid. They were really good. But Real Madrid are very different to us. They don’t press like us or play like us. [PSG] can’t expect us to give them the same game. We’re going to bring different things. We’re different players.
Most people around the world would expect PSG to win but we don’t think that in this camp. I remember the first time in this tournament when I did media I said that we’re winners – and we’ve made it this far. That shows I’m not lying. The players have got a really top mentality and we’re really excited going into this final. It’s where we belong to be. We’re confident in ourselves to win the game,” he said.
Also speaking, Chelsea captain Reece James sent out a bullish message to Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the Club World Cup final.
He declared that he and his teammates have been preparing well ahead of the crucial clash, so PSG should not expect a straightforward win.
He concluded by saying that PSG will be a tough opponent for Chelsea, but the Blues will perform in a way that will surprise everyone.
“To be honest, I don’t care that everyone is bigging up our opposition. We’re preparing right and we’re going there to win. I’ve been in many finals before where we were favourites and we didn’t come out on top.
PSG are amazing and we’re expecting a tough game, but we also have an amazing team and we’re going to surprise a lot of people. I’m sure the analyst team we have will be looking at the games where PSG haven’t done so well, and we’ll try and adapt to that,” he said.
