Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz has claimed pole position in the AFCON 2025 scoring charts after the semi-final round concluded in Morocco, having found the net five times as the tournament hosts continue their pursuit of continental silverware.
The Moroccan international holds a slender one-goal advantage over Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, who have each scored four times during the competition. However, with both Nigeria and Egypt now eliminated, Díaz stands alone among the leading scorers still in contention for the trophy.
The 25-year-old’s position at the summit gives him a clear path to claim the Golden Boot as Morocco prepare for the final, while his closest rivals can only watch from the sidelines. Several players remain on three goals, including Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, Ivory Coast’s Amad Diallo, Morocco’s Ayoub El Kaabi, Mali’s Lassine Sinayoko, and Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez.
The 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations has showcased exceptional attacking talent throughout, with the battle for top scorer remaining competitive until the latter stages of the tournament.
