Governor Dapo Abiodun has sworn in 3 more judges into the Ogun State judiciary.
He recently charged them to become vessels of hope for justice, the voice against oppression, and the guarantee that right will always conquer wrong.
The new judges are Mr. Julius Adebayo Ojikutu, who was formerly the Chief Registrar of the Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta; Mrs. Adejumoke Oluwatoyin Adewole, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development; and Mrs. Oluyemisi Oluwakemi Adebo, formerly the Secretary of the Ogun State Judicial Service Commission.
Stating that the new judges must ensure they epitomize fairness, integrity and justice, Governor Abiodun said that Nigeria’s democracy can only thrive when judges make it their duty to uphold the ethics of democratic institutions without fear or favour.
He appealed to the newly appointed judges to carry out their judicial functions with a clear conscience, stressing that the nation needs judges who are not just trained to be conversant with the law, but also role models with their character and conduct.
Governor Abiodun further urged them to stay firm and brave amid pressure, emphasising the need for them to always place the interest of Nigerians and justice above personal interests.
“This is not merely a legal obligation; it is a moral one, ensuring that justice is felt in tangible ways by every citizen regardless of tribe, religion, political affiliation, or economic status.
You must therefore continue to uphold the sacred principles of the separation of powers, ensuring that the Executive, Legislative, and Judiciary operate independently yet harmoniously, all within the constitutional framework for the good of the people.
Let me restate that our government is a responsible and responsive administration that fully appreciates the role of the judiciary in nurturing democracy.
I stand here today a grateful beneficiary of the courage, impartiality, and fidelity to the rule of law shown by our courts.
We will continue to respect court judgments, support the judiciary with resources, and enhance the processes that guarantee swift and fair dispensation of justice,” he said.
