The Lakowe community in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State is currently in panic mode after the discovery of a skit maker’s dead body with machete wounds, who was identified only as Austin.
The shocking incident happened on Thursday, August 14, and Nigerians have been reacting.
Sources said that a group of suspected cult members stormed the area early that morning in search of the victim. After locating his home, they forcefully dragged him outside his house and brutally killed him on the spot.
According to a local resident, who preferred to be anonymous for safety, he heard the commotion in the early hours without knowing the cause, only to find the body, alongside others, hours later.
Investigations revealed the body to be Austin’s, with his arm completely severed by his attackers.
“We heard noises early in the morning, but we didn’t know what was happening. It wasn’t until later that we were told a body had been discovered around the area. When we got there, we realized it was Austin, and his hand had been cut off. That’s when we connected it to the noise we had heard earlier,” the resident said.
Austin, a popular hairstylist and skit maker, had reportedly suspected danger in the days leading up to his demise.
According to another resident, the content creator had posted a suggestive message on his WhatsApp status on Tuesday, hinting at the looming violence.
“Austin was very popular for his hairstyling skills, and he was also a skit maker with many friends in the entertainment industry. People close to him said he seemed to have known his fate, as he posted a farewell message on his WhatsApp status the day before,” the resident revealed.
A clip obtained by the press showed Austin’s lifeless body lying on the ground where he was attacked, with sympathizers surrounding him.
All attempts to notify the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, have been unsuccessful thus far.
