The Federal Government has approved an increase in the fees for Nigerian Passports, which will take effect on September 1st, 2024. The announcement was made by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI), Kenneth Udo, in a statement released on Wednesday.
Udo explained that the fee adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport. According to the revised fees, a 32-page Passport booklet with a 5-year validity, previously priced at Thirty-five Thousand Naira (N35,000.00), will now cost Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00). Similarly, the 64-page Passport booklet with a 10-year validity, which was previously Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00), will now be One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00).
However, Udo clarified that the fees for passports issued in the diaspora will remain unchanged. He also expressed regret for any inconvenience the increase may cause to prospective applicants, while reassuring Nigerians of the agency’s continued commitment to transparency and quality service delivery.
