Nigeria’s Shia Muslim community have expressed grief following reports of the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a United States-Israeli attack in Tehran.
The incident, which reportedly occurred in Iran’s capital, Tehran, has sparked emotional reactions among Shia faithful in parts of Nigeria. Mourners gathered in solidarity, carrying portraits of the late cleric and waving Iranian flags during processions.
Some demonstrators were also seen dragging American and Israeli flags along the ground as a sign of protest against the alleged attack.
The development has heightened tensions within sections of the Muslim community, with leaders calling for calm while condemning the reported strike
