As part of its regular tradition to reward employees who give everything to perform their duties to the best of their ability, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Command, Olusola Odumosu, has presented medals of excellence and letters of commendation to 23 outstanding personnels at the Command Headquarters in Abuja.
NSCDC recently revealed that the presentation was done to reward exceptional performance and dedication to duty.
As per a press statement issued by DSC Monica Ojobi, FCT CDPRO, the ceremony to present medals/letters of commendation to the special officers happened at the Command Headquarters, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
Olusola revealed that the outstanding officers were recommended by the heads of Departments and units, and the award ceremony will be done on a quarterly basis to serve as motivation for all NSCDC officers to always give their best while carrying out their duties.
According to him, awarding exceptional performance is his own little way of appreciating his dedicated officers and encouraging them to keep giving their all to ensure Nigeria is a better place.
“These awards are based on merit with recommendations from the heads of Departments and units without any iota of bias. Motivation of my personnel is key, I know that to whom much is given much is expected, it is my own way of encouraging my officers to bring out their best and this is a continuous practice just to keep them at their zenith,” he said.
Announcing that the quarterly assessment of his Area Commanders and Divisional officers was also factored into their selection of excellent officers, he confessed that NSCDC cannot afford to have underperforming officers at the Area Commands and Divisions.
Commandant Olusola reiterated that NSCDC requires only diligent and upright personnel who realise that they play a key role in making sure that the mandate of the corps is actualised, and act accordingly.
He then urged every officer to step up their performance levels whenever they put on their NSCDC uniform, noting that every single one of them stands a good chance of gaining recognition, as long as they carry out their duties efficiently and live up to the standards expected of them.
“Your performance will always speak for you but if you are not performing, it will be obvious so my candid advice to you all is to buckle up and justify your positions and the much government is investing in you,” he added.
