The Olabisi Onabanjo University Students Union Government unveiled its amended constitution yesterday. The event, aptly themed “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Forging a Path to Progression,” witnessed a gathering of distinguished personalities and passionate advocates for youth empowerment.
Keynote speaker and former Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Sefiu Adegbenga Kaka, emphasized the pivotal role of empowering young leaders. Addressing the audience, Senator Kaka stressed the importance of equipping tomorrow’s leaders with the necessary tools and confidence to contribute meaningfully to society. He underscored that investing in youth leadership development is tantamount to investing in the future prosperity of communities.

Echoing similar sentiments, Hon. Bolaji Odusanya, the Executive Chairman of Ijebu North Local Government, highlighted the transcendence of Nigerian students beyond mere academic certificates. He called for the establishment of an educational ecosystem that nurtures holistic development, fostering a generation of empowered individuals poised to drive socio-economic transformation.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the 36th Hallowed Chamber of Olabisi Onabanjo University House of Senate for providing this platform to explore this critical discourse,” expressed Bolaji Odusanya, acknowledging the significance of the event organized by the university’s Senate leadership.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, and the Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye, His Royal Highness, Oba Abdul Rasaq Adenugba Olokodana Meji (II). Also in attendance were notable figures such as Otunba Jibola Ogundipe, Senator Ogunsanya Peter, popularly known as Senator Pizzle, who serves as the President of the OOU Students Union Government, as well as Senator Abiodun Mutiu and Senator Faruq Owoduni, respectively holding positions of Senate President and Deputy Senate President at OOU.
The presence of Comrade Senator Uthman Oladimeji, NANS National Senate Clerk, and other distinguished guests further underscored the significance of the event in shaping the discourse on youth empowerment and leadership development.
As the curtains drew on the event, attendees departed with a renewed commitment to nurturing a future where Nigerian students emerge not only as recipients of knowledge but as dynamic agents of positive change, equipped to steer the nation towards a brighter tomorrow.
