TotalEnergies E&P Nigeria Ltd. has urged Nigerian students to cultivate a strong reading culture. The company recently appealed to students across the country to embrace books that align with their personal and professional goals.
Speaking during TotalEnergies’ 2025 Annual Book Reading and Open Day for secondary school students in Lagos, Mr Victor Bandele, Deputy Managing Director (Deepwater Asset), said that the programme highlights how reading directly impacts knowledge, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Emphasising that TotalEnergies doesn’t just focus on energy production, he maintained that the company would keep empowering communities through quality education.
Bamidele stated that the company will always be dedicated to recognizing the excellence of Nigerian youths.
“For over 60 years, we have been passionate about lighting up minds and empowering future generations through learning.
Our dedication to Nigeria’s youth is evident in numerous educational initiatives that have enabled thousands of students to access quality education and achieve recognition for their excellence,” he said.
The Deputy MD further noted that between 2012 and 2020, over 30,000 youths benefited from TotalEnergies’ community scholarships, and more than 39,000 students received awards under the company’s National Merit Scholarship Scheme since 2003.
He concluded by reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting education and nurturing future leaders.
“Whether your dreams lie in engineering, medicine, literature, or leadership, your journey begins with the books you read and the knowledge you embrace,” he added.
