The Edo State Police Command, working alongside the Edo State Security Corps, has disrupted a suspected cult-related attack plan and arrested 12 individuals in Uzairue, Auchi, in Edo North.

The operation, carried out on May 7, 2026, followed credible intelligence that prompted a swift response by security operatives at Amazing Grace Estate, Elele Community.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, the suspects allegedly moved in from Okpella with plans to attack rival groups before they were intercepted.

The suspects include Abiola Anabgaifo (33), Idogo Joshua (28), Oseni Sani (22), Aminu Abubakar (19), Iyamah Precious (29), Usman Rapheal (29), Ogene Jude (31), Ibrahim Akeem (27), Tunde Bright (20), Jude Edeh (21), Godwin Edeh (19), and Aigbona Clifford (20).

Preliminary investigations reportedly showed that seven of the suspects admitted involvement in cultism, with links to rival groups identified as the Aye and Vikings confraternities.

Security operatives also recovered a grey Mercedes-Benz Jeep with registration number GWA 471 DS, believed to belong to one Balogun Isreal, who is currently at large.

The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, praised the operatives for their quick response and professionalism, reaffirming the command’s commitment to clamp down on cult-related violence and other criminal activities across Edo State.

He added that the suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation and will be charged in court upon conclusion of the case.

The police warned criminal groups to either abandon illegal activities or leave the state, stressing that the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, remains committed to maintaining public peace and responding swiftly to credible intelligence.

The Nigeria Police Force also assured residents of continued efforts to curb violent crime and protect communities across Edo State.
