Controversial Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, appeared in Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State on Monday facing nine criminal charges.
The Ogun State Police confirmed the charges include assault, theft, causing bodily harm, and resisting arrest.
The case stems from a New Year’s Day incident at Portable’s bar in Iyana Ilogbo, where he allegedly attacked his former partner Ashabi Simple, along with several police officers and others. Named victims include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Portable also faces accusations of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 worth ₦12 million belonging to Ileyemi Damilola and connected to car dealer Wally Dex Auto.
During court proceedings, two of Ashabi Simple’s siblings testified about the alleged assault, though Ashabi herself was not present. Police also claim Portable obstructed and assaulted Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi during her official duties.
The judge denied bail, explaining that the allegedly assaulted officer must be present in court before ruling on the application. The singer was remanded in custody, with the bail hearing scheduled for January 19.
Separately, Ogun State Police have launched an investigation into another viral video that appears to show Portable being assaulted while in custody.
