Springfield Private School (SPS) and Bosede Idehen International Academy (BIIA) have demonstrated their commitment to raising globally competitive learners with the successful hosting of an inspiring Career Day designed to expose students to diverse professions and prepare them for future career opportunities.
The event, held at the schools’ campus, brought together accomplished professionals from various sectors who engaged learners in interactive sessions on their respective careers, highlighting the responsibilities, challenges, and rewards associated with each profession.
The Career Day formed part of the schools’ commitment to delivering quality education through their unique blend of the American and Nigerian curricula, providing learners with practical exposure beyond the classroom and equipping them with knowledge needed to make informed career choices.
The programme attracted parents, education stakeholders, members of the school management, and invited guests who applauded the initiative as a vital step towards nurturing the next generation of leaders.
Addressing the learners, Barr. Adekunbi, a legal practitioner, spoke on the legal profession, emphasizing the importance of justice, integrity, honesty, and respect for the rule of law. He encouraged students aspiring to become lawyers to remain committed to academic excellence and ethical values.
Education professional Mrs. Shaba described teaching as the foundation of every other profession, noting that teachers play a crucial role in developing future doctors, engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and national leaders. She urged the learners to value education and appreciate the sacrifices educators make in shaping society.
Representing the Nigerian Army, Mr. Momoh encouraged the students to embrace discipline, patriotism, resilience, and selfless service. He explained that these values are not only essential in the military but are equally important for success in every profession.
Financial expert Mr. Benjamin Ifan, an accountant, educated the learners on financial management, accountability, and the importance of integrity in handling resources. He advised the students to cultivate analytical thinking and responsible financial habits from an early age.
Healthcare professional Mrs. Aluku, a nurse, shared practical experiences from the medical profession, encouraging learners interested in healthcare to remain focused on science subjects while developing compassion and a genuine desire to serve humanity.
The interactive sessions allowed students to ask questions and gain practical knowledge about the educational qualifications, skills, and personal qualities required to excel in different careers.
Speaking during the event, the Director of Springfield Private School and Bosede Idehen International Academy, Mrs. Maureen Idehen-Ovabor, said the schools remain committed to providing learners with educational experiences that meet international standards.
Mrs. Idehen-Ovabor, a respected pharmacist with extensive professional experience in the United States, explained that the schools’ blended American and Nigerian curricula are designed to prepare learners for global opportunities while maintaining strong academic excellence.
According to her, the objective is to ensure that children in Nigeria enjoy learning experiences comparable to those available in developed countries.
“The international exposure I have received is the same experience I want every learner in our schools to enjoy. Although they are studying here in Nigeria, our curriculum and educational approach are designed to prepare them for success anywhere in the world.
“We believe that every child deserves an education that builds confidence, develops leadership, and equips them with the skills needed to compete globally.”

She noted that Career Day also helps learners appreciate the sacrifices made daily by parents and professionals whose efforts contribute to the growth of society and the well-being of their families.
The Director emphasized that one of the key messages delivered during the programme was that every profession is valuable and deserving of respect.
She explained that farmers produce food, teachers educate future generations, lawyers defend justice, nurses preserve lives, accountants promote accountability, while security personnel safeguard lives and property, making each profession indispensable to national development.
Mrs. Idehen-Ovabor commended members of staff and the management team for organising a successful and impactful programme that reflects the schools’ commitment to educational innovation and holistic child development.
She also appreciated parents for honouring the invitation and reaffirmed the schools’ resolve to continue introducing programmes that expose learners to global best practices and prepare them to become responsible citizens and future leaders.

The Career Day concluded with networking sessions between learners and the invited professionals, leaving students inspired to pursue their dreams with renewed determination and a deeper appreciation of the dignity of labour.
The successful event further reinforces Springfield Private School and Bosede Idehen International Academy’s reputation as institutions dedicated to academic excellence, character development, innovation, and preparing learners for global relevance through quality education.
