A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has responded sharply to Chief Olabode George, a former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who claimed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would not become President in 2027.
In a statement released in Abuja, Frank advised George to abandon his “self-delusion” and “ego trip,” asserting that George does not possess the authority to dictate who will lead Nigeria in 2027.
“George should take it easy,” Frank said. “Atiku’s aspirations rest in the hands of God and the people of Nigeria, not on the whims of George and others who are now trying to gain favour and relevance by playing the role of a false prophet.”
George had previously suggested that Atiku should wait until 2031 to run for the presidency again, arguing that the office should be held by a Southerner from 2023 to 2031 in line with the reality of Nigeria’s political landscape and the PDP Constitution.
However, Frank, who also serves as the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, reminded George that he is not divine and cannot decide Atiku’s fate should he choose to contest in 2027.
“How can a man position himself as God?” Frank questioned. “How can someone, possibly nearing the end of their journey as all mortals do, claim to predict the outcome of political events that are still far off?”
Frank also criticized George for his past political predictions, noting that George had previously declared that President Bola Tinubu would not win the 2023 presidential election and vowed to renounce his Nigerian citizenship if Tinubu became President. He accused George of attempting to undermine Atiku to gain favor with the current administration, describing him as politically irrelevant and seeking crumbs.
“If God has destined Atiku to be President in 2027, not even a thousand Olabode Georges can stop it,” Frank asserted. “Moreover, George has never supported Atiku in any election, yet Atiku has always emerged as the PDP candidate.”
