President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday convened a meeting with members of the Nigerian Senate leadership at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The development was disclosed on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to him, the high-level engagement brought together key lawmakers led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Onanuga revealed that the closed-door session focused on pressing national issues, with participants reaching significant resolutions aimed at addressing the country’s current challenges. He quoted Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele as noting that the discussions were strategic and produced far-reaching decisions on matters of urgent importance.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its 2023 governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has suggested that Nigerians may need to wait between two to three years before experiencing the full benefits of the administration’s economic reforms.
Speaking during a programme on Channels Television, Cole acknowledged growing concerns over the slow translation of economic gains into real-life improvements. He explained that while macroeconomic indicators might show progress, the true measure of success lies in how such policies positively impact citizens’ daily lives.
