Vice President Kashim Shettima has committed to providing additional support to Nigeria’s creative and entertainment industry through the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) program. This commitment was made during a meeting with key industry stakeholders, led by the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, at the Presidential Villa.
In an official statement posted on his handle on Wednesday evening, Shettima emphasized the pivotal role of the creative sector in the nation’s economic diversification plans. He praised the industry for shaping Nigeria’s image and recognized its potential to thrive and generate substantial returns.
The statement quoted Shettima, stating, “We will go to any length to protect, project, promote, and preserve the interests of the Nigerian creative and entertainment industry.” He affirmed his commitment to earmarking a significant portion of funding from the iDICE program to the creative sector, acknowledging its role in nurturing entrepreneurial spirit and driving innovation.
Shettima expressed gratitude to the creative industry for positively projecting Nigeria and reiterated his commitment to supporting its growth. “I have given you my word, and my word is my bond. When it comes to the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises project funding, we will allocate a sizable tranche to the creative industry because that is the industry that can blossom and bring back more than what little is given to it.”
