The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has refuted reports saying that it is importing dirty and high-sulfur finished petrol (PMS) into Nigeria. The company recently described the reports as false, malicious, and misleading.
In a press statement, the management said that it processes a range of crude oils and intermediate feedstocks to optimize production and quality.
According to Dangote Refinery, the cargo that led to the “dirty” speculations is an intermediate feedstock, not finished petrol, and will be fully refined in its units to meet Nigerian and international quality standards.
The company stated that Dangote Refinery refines and sells only high-quality fuels that are compliant with all regulatory specifications.
“Our exports of petroleum products to the United States and Europe, among the world’s most regulated markets, underscore our adherence to global benchmarks,” it read.
The refinery further noted that all its imports come with quality certificates that are consistently shared transparently with regulators.
The company concluded by assuring the stakeholders that it is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of quality and guaranteeing cleaner fuels for Nigeria and beyond.
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery is also willing to make these documents available to the public in the interest of full transparency and accountability,” it added.
