The Federal Ministry of Works has donated a speed boat to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Lagos State Command to strengthen protection of critical infrastructure, including the Third Mainland Bridge and other major federal bridges in the state.
Lagos State Commandant Mr. Keshinro Adedotun commissioned the vessel on Thursday, November 20, as part of a broader effort to combat illegal activities threatening bridge infrastructure. The newly established Marine and Infrastructure Protection Unit, headed by Assistant Commandant of Corps Oloyede Emmanuel Ige, will operate the boat to monitor and patrol waterways beneath the bridges.
The donation reflects the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the NSCDC in its mandate to protect public infrastructure. The speed boat will be instrumental in curbing illegal dredging, excavation, and encroachment activities that pose significant risks to bridge integrity and stability.
