Ikeja Electric has reinforced its commitment to public health by carrying out targeted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in Abule-Egba and Odogunyan communities in Lagos State.

The outreach formed part of activities to commemorate the 2026 World Malaria Day, themed “Driven to end malaria: Now we can. Now we must.”

As part of the programme, residents received free malaria testing and treatment, alongside antimalarial medications, insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and educational materials designed to encourage long-term prevention.

The initiative also featured awareness sessions where community members were educated on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and early treatment of malaria. Participants were further advised on practical preventive steps, including proper sanitation, consistent use of treated nets, and the importance of seeking prompt medical care.

Speaking in a statement, Head of Corporate Communications at Ikeja Electric Plc, Kingsley Okotie, said the company’s responsibility goes beyond electricity distribution.

“At Ikeja Electric, we understand that our role extends beyond power supply. We are committed to supporting the well-being of our customers through initiatives that foster healthier communities,” he said.

He added that the World Malaria Day campaign reflects the company’s drive to equip residents with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively prevent and manage malaria.

Okotie also emphasised the importance of sustained awareness and collaboration in reducing the disease’s impact.

“We believe continuous education and access to preventive tools can significantly lower malaria cases in our communities. We will keep partnering with stakeholders to achieve better health outcomes,” he noted.

In addition, the company cautioned residents to stay vigilant during the rainy season due to heightened electrical risks. Customers were advised to avoid exposed wires, flooded installations, and damaged electrical infrastructure, while ensuring their home systems are protected from water exposure.

Residents were also encouraged to report any electrical hazards through the company’s emergency channels.

Reaffirming its dedication to community engagement and safety advocacy, Ikeja Electric stated it remains focused on delivering reliable power supply while implementing impactful CSR programmes that enhance quality of life.
