A former Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Nasir Ja’oji, has officially announced his intention to contest for the Tarauni Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
According to a statement released on Sunday by his media aide, Abba Anwar, Ja’oji recently resigned from his presidential appointment after growing pressure and encouragement from supporters urging him to pursue a legislative position.
He formally made his declaration on Friday during a meeting with supporters in Kano, stressing that his decision was motivated by a sense of duty rather than personal political ambition.
“This ambition is not borne out of mere personal interest, but from a deep sense of responsibility, commitment, and continuous engagement with the people and the ideals of my party,” he said.
Ja’oji reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that he has played active roles in strengthening the party and contributing to its electoral performance over the years.
He also highlighted his experience serving in the presidency under Bola Tinubu, saying it had broadened his understanding of governance and leadership.
“In that capacity, I initiated programmes focused on civic responsibility, youth empowerment, and leadership development across the country,” he added.
The aspirant further stated that his development efforts have included youth engagement and women’s inclusion initiatives aimed at grassroots empowerment.
He assured residents of Tarauni Federal Constituency of effective representation and improved delivery of democratic benefits if elected in 2027.
