Mohammed Idris, Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, clarified on Monday that the Federal Government sponsored 422 delegates to the ongoing COP28 in Dubai, debunking the speculated number of 1,411.

In a statement released in Abuja, Idris emphasized the necessity of the clarification amidst public discussions surrounding Nigeria’s representation at the prominent COP28, the Convention of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

He pointed out that this year’s conference in Dubai attracted over 70,000 participants and delegates from more than 100 countries. According to Idris, Nigeria’s delegation aligns with its status as Africa’s leading sovereign voice and participant in climate action.
