Liverpool defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold has refused to speak about his future at the club after scoring the only goal to secure a crucial win vs Leicester City.
The lone goal did not just secure another 3 points for the Reds, it also ensured Liverpool maintained their momentum at the top of the EPL table, and Trent has confirmed that he is looking forward to the title celebrations.
According to him, he hasn’t changed his stance about not speaking on his future until after the season, so he is currently focused on helping the team win the matches that will guarantee another EPL title after a very demanding season.
“I have said all season that I am not going to speak on my situation. I am not going to go into the details. But days like today are always special. Scoring goals, playing games, winning games, winning titles – they are special moments for me and I am glad to do my part,” he said.
Trent hailed club captain, Virgil Van Dijk, for telling him to enjoy every goalscoring moment he gets in a Liverpool shirt because they are moments one will never get back once under-appreciated.
Arnold said his strike against Leicester City was the first left-foot goal of his football career, and since it was the one type of goal that he hadn’t scored until Sunday, he is glad it came at the right time.
“Virgil [van Dijk] told me to soak it in. I am pretty sure it is my first left-foot goal. It’s taken a few years, but got there in the end. Probably the one type of goal that I was missing, but I was saving it for a right time,” he said.
The England international concluded that the club is very close to winning the EPL this season, and with just one victory left to seal it, he is happy that the wait will be over very soon.
“Sure, it was [one of the best moments in a Liverpool shirt]. I have scored a few goals here at this stadium. We are so close to winning the title now and the first game back from injury as well, it was an important game for me. We are so close to winning – just one win away now. To do that especially with the fans here is a very, very special moment,” he added.
