A Nigerian pilgrim has died on the plain of Arafat while on pilgrimage to the holy land.
The Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof Abdullahi Saleh Usman, disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the national prayer organized by the commission.
“We received as a sad news that we lost one of our pilgrims today in Arafat, and the other one died before we left Mecca,” he said.
He also said the pilgrim’s de@th was natural, ruling out speculations that it was caused by heat wave.
As is NAHCON rule, the name of a deceased person is not allowed to be made public by the commission or media until his or her family has been formally informed.
“Apples Bite Magazine” reports that Arafat is where the archangel Jibreel came to the Prophet Ibrahim to teach him the rites of Hajj. Arafat derives from Arafah or “he got to know” or “he learned.”
