Ara Queen of Drums has received the endorsement of the Special Monitoring Mission International Human Rights Commission, United Kingdom and North America Region, for her contributions during the Black History Month Celebration. The celebration, held on February 5th, 2024, honored Ara for her achievements as an internationally acclaimed female talking drummer and producer of the Yoruba movie, Osunfunke. This recognition highlights her significant role in promoting Yoruba music, culture, and movies.
At the event, moderated by Dr. Yewande Okunoren-Oyekenu and Oluwaseun Lawal, Ara Queen of Drums outlined her plans to uplift the Black community through collaboration with Black-owned businesses. Drawing on their diplomatic experiences, participating businesses provided valuable insights into achieving this goal.
With her 25th anniversary on stage approaching in the next 11 months, Ara Queen of Drums expresses eagerness to engage with various organizations for collaboration.
As part of the UK and Ireland Black History Month in October 2024, Ara will be hosted by Amb Yvette Philbert at her London-based events center for an in-person celebration of Black icons.
