Canada-based Nigerian cleric, Prophetess Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue, has publicly apologised to her husband, Franklin Chimaobim Nwanorue, after facing widespread criticism for celebrating the death of her late mother-in-law on social media.
In a video shared online, Ezinne admitted she was wrong to make the post and appealed to her husband for forgiveness.
“I am making this video to apologise to my husband. I should not have done that. I am apologising for what I did, and I hope my husband forgives me for that,” she said.
Addressing him directly, she added, “Honey, I am very sorry for posting your mother on Facebook. I ask for your forgiveness. Thank you so much.”
The apology follows a controversial Facebook post in which Ezinne shared the funeral banner of her late mother-in-law, Comfort Chika Nwanorue, and described her with offensive remarks while celebrating her death.
The post quickly sparked outrage on social media, with many users condemning her for making derogatory comments about a deceased family member and questioning the appropriateness of her statements.
This is not the first time the couple has attracted public attention. They previously went viral after Ezinne required her husband to swear an oath of faithfulness before relocating to Canada to join her.
In the widely circulated video, Franklin pledged that he would remain faithful, declaring that he should die if he ever cheated on his wife. Ezinne later accused him on Facebook of violating that oath by allegedly having an affair.
Her latest apology comes after days of intense public backlash, with many Nigerians calling for restraint and respect in handling family disputes, especially those involving deceased relatives.
