Dangote Industries Limited has further strengthened its reputation as one of Africa’s leading corporate brands after being named Africa’s Most Admired African Brand for the eighth consecutive year. The company also celebrated another milestone as its Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, was recognised among Africa’s 100 Most Influential Chief Marketing Officers.
The honours were announced during the 16th edition of the Brand Africa 100: Africa’s Best Brands rankings held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The annual survey, regarded as the continent’s most comprehensive consumer-driven brand assessment, covered 30 African countries representing more than 85 percent of Africa’s population and economic output.
In the latest rankings, Dangote emerged as Africa’s Most Admired Brand in the aided recall category, outperforming major brands such as MTN and Vodacom. In the spontaneous recall category, the company ranked second among African brands, behind MTN and ahead of Trade Kings.
The conglomerate also maintained its position as Africa’s Most Admired Industrial Brand and was named the top African brand contributing to a better Africa. The ranking placed Dangote ahead of MTN, DStv, Shoprite/Checkers and Trade Kings, reflecting its impact on industrialisation, job creation, economic growth and sustainable development across the continent.
The recognition highlights Dangote’s expanding influence across Africa through investments in cement production, fertiliser manufacturing, petrochemicals, energy, sugar refining, salt processing, packaging and logistics. According to Brand Africa, African-owned brands still make up only 15 percent of the continent’s 100 most admired brands, underscoring the continued dominance of international brands in African markets.
Brand Africa Founder and Chairman, Thebe Ikalafeng, stressed the importance of supporting African brands, describing it as a key economic priority for the continent.
He stated that transforming positive perceptions of Africa into admiration and patronage for African brands represents one of the continent’s greatest commercial opportunities. According to him, Africans must move beyond believing in Africa to actively supporting products and services made on the continent.
Dangote also secured second place in the category recognising brands that make significant contributions to society, people and the environment, further reinforcing its reputation for sustainability and social impact.
Despite fierce competition from global giants, Dangote stood out as one of the highest-ranked African brands alongside MTN and Ethiopian Airlines. These three brands emerged as the leading African names in the 2026 rankings, which were otherwise dominated by international brands including Nike, Adidas, Samsung, Apple and Coca-Cola.
The achievement is particularly significant given that African brands accounted for only 15 percent of the Top 100 rankings, compared with 38 percent for European brands, 28 percent for North American brands and 19 percent for Asian brands.
Adding to the company’s success, Anthony Chiejina was selected for the inaugural Africa CMO 100 (ACMO100) list, a recognition reserved for the continent’s most outstanding marketing, branding and reputation management professionals.
The ACMO100 initiative, launched by Brand Africa in partnership with African Business magazine, MIPAD and the African Media Agency, celebrates executives whose work is shaping Africa’s business image, strengthening brand value and contributing to economic development across the continent and its diaspora.
Chiejina was one of only 20 executives chosen from West Africa and among 17 Nigerians recognised for excellence in brand building, strategic communications and corporate reputation management.
Brand Africa said the selection process was based on independent research, leadership influence, industry impact and contributions to the growth of brands that shape consumer perceptions and economic outcomes across Africa.
The latest honours add to a growing list of recognitions earned by Dangote Industries. In 2025, the company was inducted into the Brand Africa Hall of Fame for consistently ranking among Africa’s most admired brands for over a decade. Its President and Chief Executive Officer, Aliko Dangote, also received a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his role in advancing industrialisation and building one of Africa’s most successful indigenous business enterprises.
