The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has been honoured with the Outstanding Sports Leadership Award by Megastar Magazine, organisers of the prestigious “Man of the Year” and “Megastar Man of the Decade” awards.
Dr. Adeniyi Ifetayo, Publisher of Megastar Magazine and international celebrity journalist, formally presented the award on Wednesday, praising Enabulele’s remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s sports sector as exceptional and worthy of national recognition.
Dr. Ifetayo emphasised that the honour acknowledges the Chairman’s impressive accomplishments since taking office. He noted that Enabulele’s work has inspired numerous individuals, with its impact extending far beyond immediate expectations.
The publisher explained that while the award ceremony was initially scheduled for Abuja on October 11, 2025, scheduling conflicts prompted the team to present the recognition in Benin City instead. He stressed that outstanding achievements cannot remain hidden, which is why Enabulele’s name emerged for this distinction.
The award aims to highlight leaders driving transformative change across Nigerian institutions in both public and private sectors. Dr Ifetayo disclosed that the ceremony received live broadcast coverage on Channels Television and Arise TV.
Speaking through his Media Officer, Mr. Edoko Wilson Edoko, Enabulele expressed gratitude to Megastar Magazine, characterising the recognition as motivation for continued dedication to service. He noted that he will complete his first year in office within two weeks, during which the Commission has achieved significant milestones, with accomplishments from the initial six months laying the foundation for an evolving narrative.
Enabulele highlighted Edo State’s substantial commitment to grassroots sports development, attributing the progress to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s sports-focused agenda. He distinguished Edo’s approach from other states, emphasising the cultivation of young athletes rather than recruiting established talent from elsewhere.
“What distinguishes Edo is our commitment to developing young athletes. While others rely on acquiring talent, we concentrate on identifying and training homegrown athletes. When we field 2,000 athletes at competitions, over 1,900 originate from Edo,” he explained.
The Sports Commission Chairman confirmed the state’s readiness to host the February 2026 Niger Delta Sports Festival, revealing that the Governor has mandated Edo not only to organise the event successfully but to emerge victorious. He described this objective as part of the lasting legacy being established under his leadership.
The award presentation was attended by Correspondents Chapel Chairman, Mr. Patrick Ochoga and the Deputy Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Friday Aghedo.
