Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has started attending lectures at Northwest University, Kano, following his enrollment as a second-year law student.
The traditional ruler attended classes on Tuesday alongside fellow students, wearing a black flowing robe and white turban.
His enrollment follows Northwest University’s recent decision to grant him special admission into its Bachelor of Laws program, which covers both Common and Sharia Law. University officials said the admission recognizes his extensive background in governance, economics, and public administration.
Northwest University, established in 2012, is one of two universities run by the Kano State Government.
Sanusi, who holds a doctorate and previously served as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has maintained an active role in advocating for education, social reform, and intellectual discourse. He continues to be an influential and sometimes controversial figure in Nigerian public life.
