The Lagos chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is set to rename a motor park in Oyingbo after President Bola Tinubu, adding to a growing list of public facilities bearing the president’s name since he took office in May 2023.
The facility, to be officially called the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Motor Park, is situated in Ebute Metta along Atitebi Apapa Road in Oyingbo. Its unveiling is being led by Lagos State NURTW Chairman Mustapha Adekunle Sego, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expected to perform the commissioning. The revamped park will also feature an emergency unit for union members.
Among the dignitaries expected at the ceremony are traditional ruler Rilwan Akiolu, Chief of Staff to the Lagos Governor Tayo Ayinde, Transportation Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi, and the Governor’s Special Adviser on Transportation Sola Giwa.
The naming is the latest in a series of such dedications across the country. Since Tinubu assumed office, his name has been attached to an airport in Minna, a road and National Assembly building in Abuja, a polytechnic and military barracks in the capital, and an NYSC orientation camp in Adamawa State.
