PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi has said that it is easier for players to score goals in La Liga than in Ligue 1.
He recently shared that he was pleased with how Luis Enrique proudly represented Ligue 1 and defended it against EPL fans.
Speaking to Qatari channel Al-Kass Sport, Nasser said that the Spanish manager actually told him that the club would win the UCL before facing Arsenal.
According to him, it is impossible for any EPL fan to call the Ligue 1 a farmer’s league henceforth after PSG defeated Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal on its way to winning the UCL.
The president stated that nobody expected the club to win it, but the match at Anfield gave his players more confidence to make it happen.
“It’s easier to score goals in La Liga than in Ligue 1. Luis Enrique proudly represented Ligue 1 and defended it against Premier League fans who called it the ‘farmer’s league’. We ended up beating Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the Champions League this season.
Nobody thought we would win the title. We approached the Champions League step by step. The match at Anfield gave us confidence. Luis Enrique told me before the match against Arsenal that we would win the Champions League,” he said.
He further noted that every goal PSG scored in the final was delightful, stressing that he never expected a 5-0 victory against Inter Milan.
Nasser concluded by saying that after their unexpected achievement, Paris Saint Germain is now a source of pride for Qatar and France across the globe.
“I was delighted with every goal in the final; I could hardly believe the 5-0 victory against Inter. This club has become a source of pride for Qatar and France around the world. After this incredible achievement, the club is now profitable,” he added.
