Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially joined the United States Army after successfully completing 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
The actor announced the milestone on his Instagram page on Friday, revealing that he had been out of contact throughout the demanding training period.
Reflecting on the experience, Momodu said he has always believed in earning success through hard work and merit, a principle that motivated him to push beyond his limits.
According to him, the 10-week military training tested him physically, mentally, and emotionally. He described the period as one filled with exhaustion, fear of failure, long days, short nights, harsh weather, and relentless drills that ultimately transformed him into a stronger person.
Momodu disclosed that he has now officially earned the rank of Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu and is serving with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Sharing his excitement, he said the journey involved being “broken down and rebuilt,” adding that despite moments of self-doubt, he remained focused on completing the training successfully.
The actor described the experience as life-changing, saying he “went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” highlighting the transformation that came with completing the rigorous military programme.
Momodu also revealed that his decision to enlist was deeply personal, explaining that it was a tribute to his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force before his death two decades ago.
He said that on April 12, 2026, he honoured his father’s memory by continuing the family’s tradition of service through his enlistment into the United States Army, describing it as picking up the baton where his father left off.
The actor further expressed gratitude to God for helping him pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) examination on his first attempt and successfully complete Basic Combat Training without setbacks.
He also thanked the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II of the Avyuele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, for their encouragement and support throughout the journey.
Momodu equally acknowledged Akeem Ogara for managing his social media accounts while he was away at training, as well as the United States Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for making his transition into military service possible.
His announcement has attracted congratulatory messages from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers, many of whom praised his determination and wished him success in his new career as a soldier.
