Nollywood actress and producer Biodun Okeowo has criticized fellow industry professionals for failing to support each other’s projects, calling the behavior damaging to the film industry’s growth.
In an Instagram post, Okeowo addressed actors who appear in films but refuse to help promote them during release campaigns. She described this pattern as unnecessary and harmful to professional collaboration.
The actress highlighted her own track record of promoting films she didn’t star in, emphasizing the need for a more supportive industry culture. She suggested that some colleagues view others’ success as threatening rather than inspiring.
“Some of you are so full of hate, envy, and Iwa Oshi that supporting others feels like a burden. You see another person’s progress as a threat instead of inspiration,” Okeowo wrote.
She acknowledged those who offered support without being asked, noting that the industry has room for everyone to succeed.
“To the ones who show up when asked, and those who showed up without even being asked and genuinely supported, God bless you. The sky is big enough for all of us to fly. Stop the hate,” she added.
Okeowo’s remarks have generated conversation about professional standards and cooperation in Nollywood, highlighting tensions around mutual support among industry members.
