Governor Ademola Adeleke joins the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, at the ceremony marking the commencement of lectures at Minaret University in Ikirun.
The institution, established by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, will also witness the formal investiture of Professor Abdul Rahman Abdullah as its pioneer Vice-Chancellor during the event.
According to Dr Qasim Akinreti, Media Lead for Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria, the university has built a reputation for promoting global peace through its educational mission.
“The ceremony will see Barrister Alatoye Azeez Folorunso, who serves as both Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria and Chancellor of Minaret University, formally introducing Professor Abdullah to the academic community and residents of Ikirun,” the statement explained.
Minaret University received its operating license from the Nigerian government last year, joining several other private institutions in Osun State and contributing to the expanding landscape of private higher education across Nigeria.
The Thursday event marks a significant milestone for tertiary education in the state as the faith-based institution begins its academic journey.
