Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has renewed call for collaboration towards the delivery of the Omadino-Okerenkoko-Escravos Road and Bridge project. He recently pledged his government’s readiness to partner with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) on the road and bridges project.
Speaking during the inauguration of the NDDC State Office in Warri, Oborevwori said that a tripartite meeting between the Delta State Government, NDDC and Chevron is set to be organized to create a clear roadmap to kickstart the project.
According to him, the transformative infrastructure initiative will definitely open up the coastal communities of Delta; therefore, it is a development plan the state must see through.
He stated that once completed, the project will guarantee direct road access to strategic oil and gas locations, including Chevron’s Escravos Export Terminal, and significantly enhance socio-economic activities, security response, and inter-community relations in the Niger Delta region.
“Delta State is not afraid to take on big projects. We are ready. I was born and raised here.
I know what is needed. And I say again, we are ready to take on any project,” he said.
He further assured that his administration is fully committed to completing the project, stressing that Delta State will never abandon such large-scale infrastructure that will directly impact the lives of its people.
The Governor concluded by saying that his government would sustain its open-door policy towards meaningful collaborations that lead to tangible progress for Deltans.
“To the Managing Director, by the first week of next month, we will invite the management of Chevron and other relevant stakeholders for talks.
We need to begin discussions on how to move forward with that road.
As a government, we will continue to support partnerships whether regional or national to ensure that development is not just on paper, but visible and felt in every community,” he added.
